Look at the date in your stamp. The extension is filed before that day passes. It adds up to 30 days from the day the permitted stay ends.

Who can extend

A visa-exempt stay or a tourist visa can be extended once, for up to 30 days from the day the permitted stay ends, under Immigration Bureau Order 12/2568. Visa-exempt entry is for tourism, up to 30 days.

The extension is a single grant, so a 30-day exempt stay plus the extension is the longest you get from one entry. A tourist visa (TR) stay of up to 60 days gets the same single extension. The exemption took effect on 15 September 2026; entries before that date keep their granted period.

A Visa on Arrival stay generally cannot be extended in Phuket or anywhere else in Thailand; the only exception is illness that prevents you from travelling. Some nationalities are excluded: the Bureau’s monitoring committee specifies them, and the order does not list them. Approval is at the officer’s discretion.

yeah okay makes sense for some places i guess… when i extended in Phuket / Patong (tourist visa / exemption) you had to come in the morning to get the stuff done and come back in the afternoon to pick up the passport. yes coming 2 times was not cool but the time spent wasnt too bad. In Krabi you will get your extension within 20-30mins when you come early. its usualy not crowded at all.
