Privacy

What Phuket Anchor collects about visitors (very little), what the optional sign-in for comments and email stores, and what the third-party services it embeds may collect.

This site

  • Phuket Anchor is a set of mostly static pages. Signing in with Google is optional and only needed to comment; everything else works without an account.
  • The only form is on the contact page. What you send (your email address, the topic, the page and your message) is stored for 90 days and used only to reply to you or fix the page.
  • The site runs no analytics and no advertising scripts.
  • Fonts are served from this site, not from a font service.

Visit statistics

This site sets no cookies of its own and does not count visits with a third-party analytics service.

If that changes, this page will say so before the change goes live.

Hosting

Pages are served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and request details when you load a page and may log them under Cloudflare’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

Embedded content

  • Google Maps. Guides and place pages can show a Google Maps frame. Nothing is loaded from Google until you tap "Show map"; once it loads, your browser connects to Google, which may set cookies and collect data under Google’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
  • Instagram. Where a page shows an Instagram video, nothing is loaded from Instagram until you tap it; then the Instagram player loads and Meta’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab) applies.
  • Links out. Links to TikTok, YouTube, Google Maps and other sites take you to those sites, under their own policies.

Comments and email

Sign-in is with Google only. Phuket Anchor stores your Google account ID, your email, your display name (you can edit it), your comments and likes, the time you agreed to the newsletter and the version of the consent text you saw, the time you unsubscribed, and your reply-notification setting.

Your email is never shown publicly. A comment appears right away under your display name; the editor can remove any comment that breaks the rules.

Reply emails go to the person who was replied to; this can be turned off, and every email has an unsubscribe link. New-guide emails are sent only if you ticked the box, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Email is sent through Emailit, an email delivery provider. The data above is stored on Cloudflare (D1).

Some comments were first written by their authors elsewhere and are republished here with the author's permission.

To have your data deleted, ask on the contact page. Deleting removes your email and Google account ID, and your name is shown as "Former reader". Your comment text is removed too if you ask. A deleted email is not subscribed again.

Legal basis: your consent (Decree 13/2023/ND-CP; GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

Contact messages

A message sent through the contact form (name if given, email address, text and the page it concerns) is stored so we can answer it, and is not shared or used for anything else.

Affiliate links

If you follow an affiliate link, the partner’s site may use cookies or a tracking code to record that you came from Phuket Anchor, so a commission can be paid. That happens on the partner’s site, under its policy. See affiliate links and paid listings.

Email

Phuket Anchor sends email only to people who sign in to comment: reply notices (which you can turn off) and, if you ticked the box, new-guide emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link. If you write to Phuket Anchor directly, the message and your address are kept to reply and to follow up on what you reported, and are not added to a mailing list. See contact.
