Decide three things the night before: which office, which day, and which form to print. For an extension, file at the office for the area where you live; for Phuket Town that is the main office on Phuket Road. Patong and Blue Tree are smaller points with two weekday sessions each.

What the main office handles

Three services in the office’s numbered guide matter to most foreign residents.

  • Service 5 is the application for permission to re-enter the Kingdom.
  • Service 12 is the residence report for foreigners staying over 90 days.
  • Service 13 is the notification of residence by house owners and hotel managers.

Extensions are filed at the office covering the area where you live. The 90-day report is service 12, covered in Ninety-day report in Phuket. The host’s notice is service 13, covered in Host address notice in Phuket.

Queue booking and walk-in

The E-Service menu has a general Queue Online entry. It also has a separate Queue Online entry for business cases. The booking page the office describes is for business extensions only.

How the business booking works

  • It offers 8 bookings a day on official days and hours.
  • You book at least 10 days before the filing date.
  • Documents go in for a pre-check at least 5 working days before the appointment.
  • The pre-check is handed in on the 2nd floor of the office building.
  • After the pre-check, the officer takes no more than 14 minutes to receive the application.

If you cannot book

If you cannot book the day you want, take a walk-in queue card and file as normal. Arrive early on a weekday, with all copies ready.

Visa extension at old town immigration office dress code. Hi there, I'm intending on going to get a 30 day visa extension on Friday morning at the immigration office in the old town. Digging around Google, there's some talk of people being turned away for what they are wearing. I'm a big XXXL dude and I don't have anything with a collar with me. I was planning on wearing a smart plain grey t shirt, some 3/4 length smart trousers and my walking shoes. Does anyone have any experience with this immigration office, am I going to be turned away? And if yes... Does anybody perhaps know where I might find plus size men's shirts in the old town? Thank you in advance for any input. 🙏

Honestly, I have seen some female tourists get turned away for wearing skirts that show their cheeks and also some guys that look like they just woke up or came from a beach bar. Smart casual is the way.

Modest dress code. Something you would wear to a temple. Doesn't have to be a Polo shirt, T-shirt is acceptable. Shorts are also ok. The longer the better. No Daisy-duke's. I don't think they care too much about footwear as long as you're not barefoot. Avoid Singlets/Tank Tops especially if you are female. Try for something with sleaves or at least covers the shoulders. I see female visitors sometimes with a shaw or sarong and that is a fine covering also.

If your shoulder, knees, and toes are covered, you're good. >smart plain grey t shirt, some 3/4 length smart trousers and my walking shoes You'll be fine.

Did the airport immigration officer do me a big favor? Background: I lived in Thailand for a little over two years with COVID extensions and then an education visa. However, despite having an education visa that was supposed to last a year, and despite having a reentry permit and even being allowed to reenter Thailand last week, Phuket immigration denied my education visa renewal this Monday. I was concerned that meant I would definitely have an overstay on my record because my visa renewal request was denied on the same day the visa expired, and I didn’t have enough time to buy a ticket and leave Thailand. I’m leaving Thailand right now, and when I explained to the immigration officer at the airport my situation and that I just returned from Israel after my dad had a heart attack and stroke, he let me pay 2500 baht for a 7 visa extension, which let me leave Thailand without any overstay on my record. Did the airport immigration officer do me a big favor, or is this stand practice? I thought I would definitely have an overstay on my record, but I appreciate that he let me just pay for an extension and leave Thailand with a clean record.
