DTV Extension in Phuket: THB 1,900 Fee, Form, Steps
A DTV extension in Phuket costs THB 1,900. The THB 10,000 figure is the DTV visa fee, not the extension fee. You get one extension of up to 180 days per entry, filed at Phuket Immigration on form TM.7. After 180 plus 180 days you leave and re-enter on the same DTV.

Two fees get mixed up. THB 10,000 is the DTV visa fee, and it is non-refundable. The fee for extending your stay at Phuket Immigration is THB 1,900.
| Fee | Amount | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| DTV visa fee | THB 10,000 | The visa itself, non-refundable |
| Extension of stay | THB 1,900 | More days on your current entry, not refunded |
The THB 1,900 comes from the Immigration Bureau fee schedule. The copy checked dates from 2024 and lists a general extension fee, not a DTV line. For the application side, see the DTV visa guide.

How long a DTV stay lasts and the one extension
The DTV is valid for 5 years and allows multiple entries. Each entry gives up to 180 days. The extension is a one-time extension of no more than 180 days per entry.
After the 180 days plus the 180-day extension, you leave Thailand and re-enter on the same DTV within its validity. For border options from Phuket, see the visa run guide.
Working remotely on a DTV
The DTV was built with remote workers in mind. The ministry’s own infographic lists digital nomads, remote workers and freelancers among the eligible foreigners. The application also asks for financial evidence, with 500,000 THB named as the amount.
Thai work is a separate matter, because foreigners are not allowed to work unless they are granted a work permit. If a Thai client or employer wants you on site or on its payroll, read the work permit guide first.
A long DTV stay and Thai tax
One entry can run to 180 days plus a 180-day extension, so you may cross a tax threshold without planning to.
The Revenue Department counts a person in Thailand a total of 180 days or more between 1 January and 31 December as a person in Thailand for that year. The days can come in one stay or several.
Such a person is taxed on income earned abroad only if it was earned in a tax year from 1 January 2024 onwards. It must also be remitted to Thailand, fully or partially, in the same or a later tax year. The count follows the calendar year, not your visa dates, so we recommend you tally your days per year. The tax residency guide walks through the rest.

Documents and form TM.7 for the extension
The extension is applied for on form TM.7. Phuket Immigration offers it on its form download page.
Documents for an extension of stay:
- Passport: original plus 1 copy.
- Form TM.7 with the photograph attached, taken within the last 6 months.
- The signed Acknowledgement of Penalties for a Visa Overstay.
That list is the standard extension list, not a DTV-specific one. Phone the office before you go to ask about DTV extras.
Do you need a TM30 at the counter?
The standard extension list above does not name a TM30 receipt, so whether the Phuket counter asks for one is a question for the office when you phone. The TM30 is the address notice your landlord or hotel files for you, so it costs little to ask for a copy before you set out. The TM30 guide explains who files it and when.

Where to file in Phuket

Hours and closures
Counters open from 8.30 a.m., and the afternoon session runs to 4.30 p.m.. The office is closed Saturday and Sunday and national public holidays. It is also closed on 23 October 2026. More closures and the other points are in the Phuket Immigration Office guide.
Skip the online business queue
The online queue booking on the office’s extension page is for business extensions only. Do not book it for a DTV extension.
After the extension: 90-day report and leaving Thailand
You notify an immigration officer of your address every 90 days while you stay with temporary permission. Your first extension application counts as that notification. A late report is made in person with a THB 2,000 fine. The filing window and online option are in the 90-day report guide.
Leaving Thailand without a re-entry permit cancels the permitted stay. A single re-entry permit costs THB 1,000 and a multiple one THB 3,800. The re-entry permit guide covers the form and fees.
Next in this journey: the address report every 90 days, then the landlord address notice, then the LTR visa for a longer stay.
