Lard Yai walking street

Save Lard Yai for a Sunday, the only day it opens, and find it stretched along Thalang Road. Things get going in the evening, with local food, handmade souvenirs and live performances. You pay nothing to walk in, since entry is free.

Phuket Indy Night Market

Plan Phuket Indy Night Market for midweek: it runs Wednesday to Friday, 4pm to 10pm. From Saturday to Tuesday it stays closed. Head to Dibuk Road to find it.

Naka weekend market

Come to Naka for shopping: the Chao Fah Variety Weekend Market, known as Naka Flea Market, sells clothing, footwear, bags and dolls. It sits on Wirat Hong Yok Uthit Road, opposite the Naka temple, Tambon Wichit.

Timing matters here, because the fashion and market stalls open at weekends only. The weekend night market runs Saturday and Sunday from 4pm to 11pm. On a weekday you get street food and nothing else, and that part is open every day from 7am to 9pm.

When food is the reason you are going, head for the Naka Food Center, opposite Super Cheap, Naka Market. With over 48 stalls, it lets you graze without committing to a full sit-down meal.

Chillva Market

Chillva Market fits any evening from Monday to Saturday. Look for 141/2 Yaowarat Road, Mueang District, Phuket 83000, opposite Ban Sam Kong Municipal School. Its closing time is not confirmed, so check it before you plan a late dinner here.

Who the markets suit

Choose Lard Yai for a Sunday evening built around food: stalls sell local food, beverages, snacks, desserts and souvenirs, with live music and performances. Entry there costs nothing. For a browse through clothing, footwear, bags and dolls, the Naka weekend market is where to go.

How to get there

Hop on the free Dragon Line circular shuttle to move between Central Festival, Old Town and OTOP Market. Naka sits about 2 minutes from Central Festival, and you can arrive by tuk-tuk, taxi, car or bike. For every other market, a taxi or ride-hailing car is simplest: read Getting around Phuket and Grab vs Bolt in Phuket.

When to go and how long

Your free evening decides it. Sunday from 4pm means Lard Yai, while Wednesday to Friday is the turn of Indy Night Market. Naka covers Saturday and Sunday from that same hour, and on Monday to Saturday evenings Chillva is the open Old Town option.

When it is a weekday and nothing in Old Town suits, fall back on Patong. Malin Plaza is open daily there, and Chino Yard runs from 11:30am to 1am.
