Krung Thai’s ATM offers currency conversion, and the bank sets that fee at 4% of the amount withdrawn in the currency of the issuing bank. It is charged additionally when you select the service.

Say no to the conversion and let your own bank convert. Then you pay the access fee once, not the access fee plus the 4%.

Krung Thai charges the access fee only on a successful Visa or Mastercard transaction, and only successful transactions are charged for UnionPay.

Bank counters

At a Krungsri branch or booth counter, an international Visa card pays THB 200 per transaction. At the Krung Thai counter it is THB 200 per transaction. The counter fee is lower than the ATM fee at both banks.

Most banks have waived fees on digital payments such as mobile payment since 2018. To join PromptPay you register by linking an existing bank account to your citizen ID or phone number through mobile banking, internet banking, ATM machines or a branch. That needs a Thai bank account.

Just pay the small fee when you get in Thailand and withdraw a decent chunk. The fee is around 250 baht. You can withdraw straight away at the airport or any ATM really.

One thing to note is that when SuperRich, you need to have your physical passport with you. Oh Rich on the other hand accepts a photo of your passport which is nice.

Not sure why people bother bringing tons of cash and then waiting in lines to exchange them. ATM fee is not so bad if you withdraw 30k baht at a time and let your own bank do the conversion.

I convert $300 USD when I land in Bangkok and use ATM or currency exchanges as needed after. (Super Rich has best exchange rates)

Need Advice on ATM Withdrawal Fees and SIM Cards Hi, I'm excited to be planning a 2-week trip to Bangkok, Phuket and other places with my family. We'll need to withdraw Thai Baht from ATMs using my Revolut Visa debit card, but I'm having trouble finding information on the costs associated with withdraw cash from local ATM providers. Can anyone recommend specific banks or ATMs with many branches or machines that offer low withdrawal fees for foreign cardholders? In addition, I'm also looking to purchase SIM cards with unlimited internet access, high-speed and large network coverage recommendations for reliable mobile providers and where we can purchase the SIM cards? Thank you in advance for your help! I've never been in SEA region, so I'd appreciate if I could also ask additional questions in DMs.

220 baht fee for every single bank in Thailand, unless it's gone up recently. So, it doesn't really matter which bank you withdraw from, since they all charge the exact same amount. And because of the flat fee, usually you should withdraw a lot at a time. Just withdraw in Thai Baht, not in USD or another currency, because if the Thi Bank does the converting to USD, instead of Visa, the fees and rate are horrendous.

I was out in January and February, I converted to Thai Baht using revolut, which has a very favorable exchange rate. You can use the card or Apple Pay in 7/11s and other places and your paying in the local currency. However you will still be charged the ATM fee, I can’t remember the exact amount but it’s around 250 baht.. Also used a True 699 baht SIM card for a month, I was cycling, so I was streaming music etc most days…

For the SIM card I recommend going to a store rather than the airport. Lots of reviews says AIS has the most reliable network, Dtac can be a hit or miss depending where you are. We landed in Phuket and at the airport they were selling 30 days of highest speed for 1600thb. Luckily our phones weren’t unlocked so we ended up not paying for it. It’s roughly the same price as what you’d pay in the internet. After unlocking our phones we tried to just buy it off the website but it didn’t work so we went to a store. They gave us 90GB for 30 days on high speed for 300thb! It’s not unlimited but you can always add on more if you need and if you do it at a store it’ll be much cheaper.
